This article goes over settings to control how you want your kiosks to interact with customers. For example, you might want to ask them for special requests or item quantities - or you might want to sync kiosks with Square Inventory. Here are the settings available:
toggle_on
This setting is a must for food and beverage use cases. If you enable this option, KioskBuddy will show “For Here” or “To Go” to the customer when checking out. The selected dining option will be displayed in printed and email receipts for your staff to prep orders as desired by the customer.
Alternatively, you could also set up a custom Checkout Flow step to ask the customer for their dining option choice during the checkout process.
toggle_on
This is only applicable if dining options are enabled. When enabled, "To Go" will be the default selection.
toggle_on
Another must-have setting for food and beverage setups. Enable this option to show a text field for the customer to type in any special requests. For example, they might want to remove an ingredient from the order, or they might want to ask for extra sauce. The customer's input here will be added to any printed or electronics receipts.

short_text
If you'd like to customize the instructions for special requests, you can do so here. For example, if you're selling a customizable physical product you could use this as an opportunity to ask for specific customizations such as a text for engraving. You might also change the text to ask the customer if they have any allergies.

toggle_on
Enable this setting to ask the customer for how many of an item they want. When enabled, KioskBuddy will show an additional screen with buttons to increase or decrease quantities. For decimal based quantities (e.g. selling by the pound), a special screen will show up to allow the customer to type in a decimal amount.
short_text
This text field can be used to change the displayed text for when KioskBuddy asks the customer how much of an item they want.
The Idle Screen is what shows up to the customer when the kiosk is not actively being used (or hasn't been used in some time). It's great for showing the customer that they can order on the device, or for advertising and branding purposes. There's a number of settings available to configure the idle screen, detailed below:
toggle_on
Use this option to default to showing the idle screen after a customer checks out. When this option is off, the idle screen will only show after a certain amount of time.
tag
Use this setting to specify how long the kiosk must remain inactive for the idle screen to show up. For example, if it's set to 300, after 300 seconds (5 minutes) of no customer interaction, the kiosk will show the idle screen. To disable the idle screen completely, set this value to 0.

short_text
Use this text field to set the title shown on the idle screen. The title is shown in a larger, bold font.
subject
Use this text field to show a short description on the idle screen. The description is shown in a smaller, thinner font.
toggle_on
Enable this setting to display a background image for your idle screen. Keep in mind text may be harder to read with a background image.
image
Use this widget to upload your background image for the idle screen. You can even use gifs for an animated background!
KioskBuddy integrates directly with Square Inventory to decrement inventory as items are sold and show items on your kiosks as out of stock "(Sold Out)". The settings detailed below allow you to control some of the behavior of this Square Inventory integration.
Normally, whenever any changes to inventory happen in the Square platform, KioskBuddy will update your relevant menus with those changes. However, that means if you have a recently created KioskBuddy menu, it won't have all of the inventory data right away. But you can get around this by following Square's steps for updating inventory in bulk - you can just set the inventory count to whatever it currently is (i.e. an inventory recount). This will trigger the appropriate logic under the hood to get your KioskBuddy menus up to date!
inventory
Enable this setting to have KioskBuddy sync the availability of items that's displayed to customers. Square Inventory will automatically be synced to your kiosks, and as items are sold out, they'll be labeled as such and cannot be ordered. Also, any out-of-stock items that are in the customer's cart will be removed. When items are back in stock, customers can immediately start ordering those items again. You can toggle this setting for each item variation in the Menu Editor.
visibility_off
Turn on this setting if you want sold out items to be completely hidden. This is useful for decluttering your menu if you have many items that will be out of stock for a long time.
block
This option is useful in preventing the overselling of any items. You can set this text field to a number greater than or equal to 0. When inventory of a particular item variation falls below this number, your kiosks will label the item as sold out.
toggle_on
Use this option to show an item's details when tapping on an item. This setting is useful if you have large descriptions for items that customers need to read about for deciding to purchase. If you don't have any images, descriptions, or item variations, it's much more user friendly to have the kiosk skip this view.

wysiwyg
By default, KioskBuddy guides your customers through the item ordering process, showing each step one at a time. For example, it'll step through each modifier set you have on an item. This is useful for teaching customers how to order on a self-serve kiosk, but sometimes you need a setup focused on speed to help bust the long lines. When you turn this setting on, all customization will show up on a single screen - less taps for the user!
production_quantity_limits
Use this field to set the maximum number of items that a customer can add to their cart. Customers won't be able to add more than this number and a message will be displayed to warn them.
toggle_on
With this enabled, the kiosk will show a pop-up to ask the customer to checkout. It's useful to streamline the ordering flow to get the customer through as fast as possible.
