This article details the various payment options you can configure for each self-order kiosk such as cash payments, tips, manual credit card entry, and more.
Use the options in this section to control the behavior of customer payments when checking out. Here are the options available for customization:
check_box
Select this checkbox if you'd like to allow the customer to manually input their credit card for payment (e.g. credit card number, CVC, postal code). Though this is a higher charge than using Square payment hardware, this is useful as a backup payment option in case something goes wrong with your hardware.
Please note, if a payment hardware is not connected to KioskBuddy, this option will be shown at the payment screen even if it's not enabled. You can disable this setting under the Advanced section > Disable backup manual credit card entry.
check_box
Select this checkbox if you'd like to allow the customer to use multiple payment methods per transaction. For example, a gift card might not have sufficient funds to complete the entire order, so the customer can add a second card to pay and still use their gift card. This feature is also useful for a group order where multiple credit cards can be used to pay.
local_atm
This feature allows you to both enable or disable tipping as well as customize the default percentages. When enabled, KioskBuddy will show a screen to allow the customer to leave a tip. Note that the customer will always have the option to put in a custom tip amount as well.
check_box
Select this checkbox to enable cash payments. Unfortunately being an iPad kiosk solution, we have no way of taking cash at the kiosk itself. As an alternative, when cash is enabled, the customer will have the option to choose between a cash or credit card payment. If cash is selected, the order name will have a cash identifier added to the receipt. At some point later when the order is ready, it's up to your staff to trade payment for product.
Most people leave their self-order kiosks to credit card only, then have a cashier working for all other cash customers.
check_box
This is a special option that tells KioskBuddy it can skip the payment flow if an order total is exactly zero dollars. It's usually used for use cases like prepaid catering. For example, you might set up a menu where everything can be ordered for "free" since it has all been paid for in advanced. Note that skipping the Square checkout flow means that the transaction will not be recorded in the Square Dashboard.
