We've designed this guide to get your self-order kiosk up and running in no time! If you're brand new, this is the guide for you - and you can use it for future reference if you ever decide to add more self-order kiosks to your business.
You must have an existing Square account with an Item Library. Need a Square account? Sign up for one here.
Check out KioskBuddy's Limitations article to learn about what KioskBuddy can't do.
Create a KioskBuddy account at dashboard.kioskbuddy.app/signup.
Tip: Once you sign up for a KioskBuddy account, our quickstart will guide you all the way through to Step 4.
Once your account is created, you'll be prompted to authorize your Square account. Authorizing your Square account gives KioskBuddy permission to read your Item Library as well as process payments on your behalf.
Click on the AUTHORIZE WITH SQUARE button which will direct you to log in to your Square account to give KioskBuddy the necessary permissions. Once you finish, you should see the notification below.
From here you can head on to the main dashboard area.
You'll need to import your entire Square Item Library into KioskBuddy to display in the kiosk. You'll be able to edit items later on in KioskBuddy's real-time menu editor.
From the "Catalog" tab, click on the IMPORT A MENU button. Give your menu a name and click IMPORT. After successfully importing, you should be automatically redirected to a new page for your new menu.
Download the app from the App Store by opening this link on your iPad: www.kioskbuddy.app/download

KioskBuddy needs iOS Location permissions to take in-person payments, in order to securely authorize payments. This is the only required permission, but you may be prompted for other permissions depending on which features you set up. For example, when connecting to a Square Reader you'll need Bluetooth permissions.
Push the CONTINUE button to allow Location permissions.
Select your desired Square location for the kiosk in the Required: Select a location to authorize with Square panel. Square uses this location for payment compliance, security, and reporting.
A list of menus should show up in the panel. These are the menus that you imported from the web dashboard. Pick the menu you want to show on this kiosk.
Once you start the kiosk, any changes made from the web dashboard will be reflected to the kiosk in real-time. This is super useful for use-cases such as running out of stock for a particular item.
The remaining panels are optional and will depend on the setup of your business's operations. For more information on each of the features, see the Device Configuration section.
Tap the START KIOSK MODE button at the top to begin self-service mode.
To exit Kiosk Mode, tap twice OR hold down on your kiosk name at the top left of the main menu screen or the CART label at the top right. After a few seconds, a prompt will appear for the exit password which is configurable from the web dashboard. The default password is “PASSWORD”.
Be sure to enable guided access to prevent customers from leaving the app and always take safety precautions to secure your physical device. See Apple’s Guided Access tutorial for more information.
To keep your iPad's display on at all times without locking the iPad or turning off the screen, make sure Display Auto-Lock is properly configured in our iOS Settings. In the latest version of iOS, this setting can be found under iOS Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Display Auto-Lock.
