Upselling

A free trial of upselling is available to all plans until May 1, 2025, after which it will be available to Pro and Business plan subscribers.

KioskBuddy's Upselling feature helps you generate more revenue by offering customers relevant items at key points in their ordering experience. Here's what the customer sees when they're ordering items:

How to setup Upselling

Use the New Upsell Campaign button to set up upselling. You'll be guided through the process of setting up your campaign. You can set up as many campaigns as you'd like.

There are two main parts to upselling: triggers and item slots.

Upsell Triggers

First, choose your upsell triggers. Triggers are items or categories that will prompt KioskBuddy to show an upsell. For example, if you set an item as a trigger, whenever a customer adds that item to the cart, they will be shown other items as an upsell. If you set a category as a trigger, any item in that category will show upsells.

Default Trigger

By default, a trigger is added to upsell for all items. This means that every item in your menu will trigger an upsell if possible.

Custom Trigger

If you want to set a custom trigger for specific categories or items, you'll need to get the category or item's catalog object ID. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Catalog page.

  2. Open your menu with the category or item you want to use.

  3. Push the Edit button.

  4. At the top left of the dialog you'll find the ID. Clicking on the ID will copy it to your clipboard.

Once you have the catalog object ID you can simply paste that into the Category or Item ID field:

Upsell Item Slots

Next you can refine your upsell strategy by choosing your upsell item slots. These slots represent items that will be shown to your customers to add to the order. For each slot, you can choose between a Smart Upsell or a Manual Upsell.

You can add as many item slots as you want! We recommend around three for the best customer experience, otherwise it can be overwhelming to see so many options.

Smart Upselling

KioskBuddy's Smart Upselling feature uses AI along with the trends in your sales to determine which items are frequently bought together. Every time you make a sale, KioskBuddy feeds that data into its calculations to determine what items make the most sense together.

Sometimes a trend can't be found between your items. If you only have smart upselling in your upsell strategy, you might not see any upsells. It can also take some time for trends to appear in your sales. In that case, you may want to add some manual upsells instead.

Manual Upselling

Manual Upselling means you get to set up exactly which items get upsold. This is useful for campaigns like to promote brand new items in a combination, or if you know for sure pairs of items go well together.

To set a manual upsell for specific items, you'll need to get the category or item's catalog object ID. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Catalog page.

  2. Open your menu with the item you want to use.

  3. Push the Edit button.

  4. At the top left of the dialog you'll find the ID. Clicking on the ID will copy it to your clipboard.

Once you have the catalog object ID you can simply paste that into the Manual Upsell's Item ID field:
