Is your item labeled as sold out on the kiosk but shouldn't be? If you don't want KioskBuddy to automatically sync with your Square item availability, you can turn off the setting completely by following the steps here. Otherwise, if you do want KioskBuddy to automatically sync with your Square item availability, read on to troubleshoot any inventory issues you may have!

There are 4 places across the Square platform in which you can manage inventory and mark an item as sold out from, so you'll need to check each one: Square Dashboard, the Square POS app, the Square for Restaurants app, or the Square KDS app.

Here is a troubleshooting checklist to follow for Square inventory issues with KioskBuddy:

Step 1: Check the Square Dashboard

  1. Navigate to your Square Dashboard.

  2. From the Hamburger menu, go to Items.

  3. Go to Item Library.

  4. Select the item you want to adjust inventory for.

  5. Scroll down to the Variations section.

  6. Push Edit variation details.

    1. If you have more than 1 variation, then select the variation you want to adjust inventory for.

  7. Go to Manage stock.

  8. If you have the Tracking toggle turned on with a stock count of 0, then turn the toggle off. If you have the the Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online toggle turned on, then turn the toggle off.

  9. Push Done and then push Save.

Step 2: Check the Square POS app

If you are not using the Square POS app, skip to step 3.

  1. Open the Square POS app on your device.

  2. Tap the More hamburger menu at the bottom menu.

  3. Tap Items.

  4. Select the item you want to adjust inventory for.

  5. If you have only 1 variation, scroll down to the Price and inventory section. If you see Manage Stock in your Stock row, then push Manage Stock. If you have the Label as sold out at this location toggle turned on, then turn it off.

  6. If you have more than 1 variation, then scroll down to the Variations section. Select the variation you want to adjust inventory for. If you see Manage Stock for your Variation, then push Manage Stock. If you have the Label as sold out at this location toggle turned on, then turn it off.

  7. Push Done and then push Save.

Step 3: Check the Square for Restaurants app

If you are not using the Square for Restaurants app, skip to step 4.

  1. Open up the Square for Restaurants app on your device.

  2. Select Actions at the bottom menu.

  3. Select Item Availability.

  4. Select the item you want to adjust inventory for.

  5. If you have the Unavailable for Sale button selected, then select the Available for Sale button.

  6. Push Save.

Step 4: Check the Square KDS app

If you are not using the Square KDS app, skip to step 5.

  1. Open the Square KDS app on your device.

  2. Open the Hamburger Menu (3 lines icon).

  3. Push View item availability.

  4. Select the item you want to adjust the availability for.

  5. If you have the Unavailable for Sale button selected, then select the Available for Sale button.

  6. Push Save.

Step 5: Manually Sync Square Inventory

Follow the steps here to manually refresh your KioskBuddy data with your Square inventory data.

Step 6: Check your KioskBuddy settings

  1. Navigate to the KioskBuddy Dashboard.

  2. Go to the Catalog page.

  3. Select your menu.

  4. Find your item.

  5. Push the Show More button for your item.

  6. Push the Edit button for the item variation.

  7. Ensure that the Track Square Inventory toggle is off and that the Show as sold at (your location) toggle is off.
